Skilled Migrant Category - Expression of Interest Selection on 28th January 2009

January 30, 2009

The following EOIs were selected from the pool for validation on 28 January 2009: 446 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 140 or above:
374 with job offer
72 without job offer

95 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 100 or more but less than 140, and included points for offers of skilled employment or current skilled employment in New Zealand. 205 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 100 and 135, without a job offer, but with points claimed for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage. 34 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 120 and 135, without a job offer, but with 10 points claimed for a qualification in an area of absolute skills shortage. (A total of 780 EOIs were therefore selected) Conclusion: Leaving aside the EOIs in areas of Absolute Skills Shortage, only 13% of applicants managed to achieve the selection point without a job offer. Thus, 87% of ordinary applicants needed a job offer to qualify. Clearly, getting a job is of paramount importance to your application, which is where our Jobsearch Programme is best placed to help. The next selection will take place on Wednesday 11th February 2009.
