March 2, 2009

The following EOIs were selected from the pool for validation on 25 February 2009: 446 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 140 or above:
388 with job offer
58 without job offer

120 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 100 or more but less than 140, and included points for offers of skilled employment or current skilled employment in New Zealand. 104 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 100 and 135, without a job offer, but with points claimed for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage. 65 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 100 and 135, without a job offer, but with 10 points claimed for a qualification in an area of absolute skills shortage. 37 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 130 but less than 140. These EOIs did not claim points for an offer of skilled employment in New Zealand or bonus points for qualifications or work experience in areas of absolute skills shortage. These EOIs were ranked in descending order of points. (A total of 772 EOIs were therefore selected) Conclusion: Leaving aside the EOIs in areas of Absolute Skills Shortage, only 16% of applicants managed to achieve the selection point without a job offer. Thus, 84% of ordinary applicants needed a job offer to qualify. Clearly, getting a job is of paramount importance to your application, which is where our Jobsearch Programme is best placed to help. The next selection will take place on Wednesday 11th March 2009.
