Skilled Migrant Category - Expression of Interest Selection on 17th December 2008

December 18, 2008

The following EOIs were selected from the pool for validation on 17 December 2008: 438 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 140 or above:
385 with job offer
53 without job offer

108 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 100 or more but less than 140, and included points for offers of skilled employment or current skilled employment in New Zealand. 65 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 100 and 135, without a job offer, but with points claimed for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage. 80 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 100 and 135, without a job offer, but with 10 points claimed for a qualification in an area of absolute skills shortage. 48 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 115 but less than 140. These EOIs did not claim points for an offer of skilled employment in New Zealand or bonus points for qualifications or work experience in areas of absolute skills shortage. These EOIs were ranked in descending order of points. (A total of 739 EOIs were therefore selected) Conclusion: Leaving aside the EOIs in areas of Absolute Skills Shortage, only 17% of applicants managed to achieve the selection point without a job offer. Thus, 83% of ordinary applicants needed a job offer to qualify. Clearly, getting a job is of paramount importance to your application, which is where our Jobsearch Programme is best placed to help. The next selection will take place on Wednesday 14th January 2009.
