Critical healthcare workers needed in New Zealand now!

September 3, 2020

Our NZ based Director has a clear message for British healthcare workers: ‘If you are a qualified health worker, now is the time to pursue a new career in New Zealand. With Covid 19 pretty much under control, New Zealand offers a safe space when compared to most other countries.’

Hospitals and practices across the country are looking for General Practitioners, Registered Nurses particularly those specialising in Mental Health, Aged Care and Perioperative, Operating Department Practitioners, Midwives, Surgeons and many other healthcare occupations.  These are classed as critically needed skills by Immigration NZ and will be considered for a border exemption.

It’s estimated that New Zealand needs over 350 medical specialists every year and up to 25,000 more nurses by 2030. Therefore, if you have the qualifications and experience required, your visa is more likely to be approved and you may even be able to apply for  permanent residence.

New Zealand has both a public and private healthcare system, each offering high standards of care. The public system is much larger, accounting for over 80% of total healthcare spending. In total  there are around 220 hospitals and 20 District Health Boards managing public healthcare in different regions. Having such a wide-ranging healthcare system you’ll find there’s a wide range of work opportunities for healthcare professionals covering every discipline or specialty. New Zealand puts about 10% of its GDP into healthcare, a little more than the OECD average.
