Australia - New Skilled Occupations List
New Skilled Occupation List (SOL) Will NOT BE released Today
According to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship:
The Government is considering the report from Skills Australia containing their Skilled Occupation List. An announcement and publication of the new Skilled Occupation List for Migration purposes will be made in May.
Previously, the Department had expected the new SOL would be announced today, 30 April 2010.
The Minister of Immigration has indicated that the new SOL would take effect on 1st July 2010. Following today's announcement we believe that this is now less likely.
If you are keen to start your application, now may be a good time as it could still be possible to lodge an application before the new SOL comes into force, together with a new system of classing occupations - called ANZSCO which will replace the current ASCO system.
