All change in Australia – a new Minister for Immigration and Citizenship

February 8, 2013

It would seem that an impending election has brought about change within the Australian Labor Party, with the announcement of a new Minister for Immigration and Citizenship.

Brendan O’Connor, Federal Member for the electorate of Gorton and past Home Affairs Minister will be taking over the role from current Minister Chris Bowen.

In the last two-and-a-half-years the Australian Immigration System has undergone periods of significant change, which has seen a significant increase in the country’s humanitarian intake and improvements in breaking the people smuggling trade.

The system has also seen a significant reform in recent years, including major changes in July 2011 which saw the Skilled Occupation List changed significantly.

The Australian Government remains focussed on attracting Skilled Workers to fill huge skill shortages that they have throughout the country – and you could easily find that you fall into this category if you have the right skills and qualifications.

If you are looking to find out more about your eligibility for skilled migration, and the skills and qualifications that you need then The Emigration Group are fully qualified experts who can help you throughout this process.

Our team brings together a wealth of knowledge and experience to help potential migrants work their way throughout the emigration process – with a helping hand every step of the way.
