ACT Migration Plan

November 16, 2010

Chris Bowen MP, and Australian Capital Territory Chief Minister, Jon Stanhope, announced the ACT State Migration Plan last week. The changes to ACT’s migration program should improve the regions skills shortage within nine months.

Immigration Minister Chris Bowen is confidant the new plan will attract the required skilled migrants to help fill the shortage of skilled workers in the region.

The ACT territory contributes a large proportion to the Australian economy and has one of the lowest rates of unemployment. This has led to a skills shortage and the plan will refocus the General Skilled Migration Program, as State Migration Plans are agreed with the ACT federal minister.
