130,000 new jobs forecast for New Zealand

October 11, 2013

It is estimated that 130,000 jobs will be created in New Zealand over the next three years thanks to a rise in economic activity, according to the Ministry of Business.

Their latest jobs report estimates that there will be strong growth in both the construction and utility industries thanks in part to the Christchurch rebuild and substantial growth in Auckland.

Figures are suggesting that unemployment is expected to continue to decline, with a reduction to 6% by March next year, 5.7% in 2015 and in 2016 it could be less than 5%.

The ministry is predicting that half of all the jobs created will be in highly skilled sectors such as management, while a third will be in positions, including manufacturing, retailing, hospitality, agriculture and construction.

If your current working situation represents one of these professions and you have the relevant experience and qualifications, then you could be eligible to apply to live and work in New Zealand.
