Victoria's Economy Continues to Grow

Victoria's economy grew by 3.2% in the year 2007-08 and is optimistic for the future.

A new suburb in Geelong is regional Victoria's fastest growing area and will provide homes for 54,000 people and jobs for more than 22,000 locals.

Two large projects in Melbourne will increase the demand for skilled labour and economic activity - The Bourke Junction Stadium is worth $700 million and also the new Melbourne Markets Relocation Project.

Residential construction activity is also expected to increase particularily in detached dwellings, Victoria will require additional skilled trades people and have included many building trades on their eligibility lists for 'State Sponsored' skilled migration to Victoria.
