Skilled Migrant Category - Expression of Interest Selection on 25th March 2009

March 26, 2009

The following EOIs were selected from the pool for validation on 25 March 2009: 498 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 140 or above:
438 with job offer
60 without job offer

144 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 100 or more but less than 140, and included points for offers of skilled employment or current skilled employment in New Zealand. 103 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 100 and 135, without a job offer, but with points claimed for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage. 42 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 105 and 135, without a job offer, but with 10 points claimed for a qualification in an area of absolute skills shortage. (A total of 787 EOIs were therefore selected) Conclusion: Leaving aside the EOIs in areas of Absolute Skills Shortage, only 9% of applicants managed to achieve the selection point without a job offer. Thus, 91% of ordinary applicants needed a job offer to qualify. Clearly, getting a job is of paramount importance to your application, which is where our Jobsearch Programme is best placed to help. The next selection will take place on Wednesday 8th April 2009.
