Skilled Migrant Category - Expression of Interest Selection on 16th December 2009

January 6, 2010

The following EOIs were selected from the pool for validation on 16 December 2009: 337 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 140 or above:
302 with job offer
35 without job offer

127 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 100 or more but less than 140, and included points for offers of skilled employment or current skilled employment in New Zealand. 69 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 100 and 135, without a job offer, but with points claimed for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage. 17 EOIs were selected that had a points total between 110 and 135, without a job offer, but with 10 points claimed for a qualification in an area of absolute skills shortage. (A total of 550 EOIs were therefore selected) Conclusion: Leaving aside the EOIs in areas of Absolute Skills Shortage, only 8% of applicants managed to achieve the selection point without a job offer. Thus, 92% of ordinary applicants needed a job offer to qualify. Clearly, getting a job is of paramount importance to your application, which is where our Jobsearch Programme is best placed to help. The next selection will take place on Wednesday 13th January 2010.
