NZ Migrant Intake Increased

July 20, 2006

The drive to attract qualified workers to NZ has led to an increase in the number of visas that will be made available for the 2006/2007 year. The government hope to welcome up to 52,000 new migrants into the country. This is a further 2,000 migrants more than last year’s original allocation. The Minister for Immigration believes that the increased intake of workers in skill shortage areas will help NZ businesses develop further and boost the economy.
