New Zealand – Really is a safe place to live!

October 4, 2012

With a drop of 5.2 per cent on the previous year, latest figures reveal that New Zealand's crime rate has dropped to an all-time low.

Deputy Police Commissioner Viv Rickard believes these figures show why New Zealand is a safe place to live and that they will work with the public to continue to keep the crime rate down.

The biggest decrease was seen in minor offences which are usually the most common occurring. Homicide and related offences dropped 21.5 per cent.

The largest decrease was seen in Canterbury where it dropped by almost 12 per cent.

Being safe is a crucial part of finding a place to settle down - and if you are looking for a secure environment for you and your family then you can't get better than New Zealand.
