Australian permanent residence visa for New Zealand Citizens

Australia has created a new permanent visa stream for specified New Zealand citizens. From 1st July, a new stream of the subclass 189 skilled independent visa allows New Zealand citizens who meet regulatory requirements to be granted an Australian permanent residence visa. There are a number of criteria which must be met including holding a current visa s/c 444 special category , been resident in Australia on or before 16th February 2016 for a continuous period of at least 5 years prior to application and the applicant must meet minimum levels of taxable income in 4 of the 5 most recently completed income tax years.
