Auckland is #1 and #2 in New Zealand's top experiences

October 8, 2012

Releasing its latest New Zealand edition just a few weeks ago, Lonely Planet has labelled the City of Sails as home to a "vibrant Polynesian culture" and "geographically blessed".

The Hauraki Gulf and Auckland Harbour made it to the top of the country's top 20 experiences list with urban Auckland a close second.

According to the guide, "Auckland isn't your average metropolis."

"It's regularly rated one of the world's most liveable cities, and while it's never going to challenge NYC or London in the excitement stakes, it's blessed with good beaches, flanked by wine regions and has a large enough population to support a thriving dining, drinking and live-music scene."

According to the guide, visitors should look to spend at least two weeks in the city to fully explore the culture and the sights that are on offer.

The city ranked ahead of popular tourist spots including Milford Sound, Waitomo Caves, Queenstown and the Bay of Islands.

If you are looking for a new home which has plenty to offer then you may be considering Auckland as your next destination. With warm summer nights, a great education system and beautiful landscapes, what more could you ask for?
